The roleThis is not a meetings-and-reports engineering manager role. You will be a player-coach — deeply technical, actively in the code, and responsible for the output and growth of the engineering team. You will own delivery end-to-end: from architecture decisions to sprint execution to production reliability. You must be someone engineers respect because of what you build, not just your title.
If you are not deeply passionate about building teams and shipping systems, this role will not be a good fit. Candidates who are not hands-on engineers will not be considered.
Work style & expectations- Fully remote
- 6 days a week, 9 hours/day

- Daily collaboration with a small, strong team of engineers solving complex problems
What you'll do- Lead and manage a team of engineers building production-grade AI systems
- Stay deeply hands-on — reviewing code, unblocking engineers, and shipping yourself
- Architect and own the MERN stack and TypeScript-based systems we build for clients
- Drive technical decisions across AI agent workflows, APIs, and infrastructure
- Set and uphold extremely high engineering standards across the team
- Own sprint planning, delivery timelines, and cross-functional coordination with founders
- Debug production issues under pressure and ensure system reliability
- Hire, evaluate, and develop engineers as we scale
Tech stack / tools- MERN stack — MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js
- TypeScript
- AI / Agents: LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, custom orchestration
- DevOps: Docker, CI/CD pipelines, AWS / GCP / DigitalOcean
What we're looking for- Proven track record shipping production systems at scale
- Strong systems thinker with senior-level engineering fundamentals
- Experience managing or leading a small engineering team
- Extremely high ownership
- High stamina, high standards, zero tolerance for mediocrity
